ACADEMIC STANDARDS
Students at the JIU are expected to maintain high academic standards in all aspects of the curriculum and life of the University. All subjects taught entail compulsory university and faculty requirement/s components. These have to be carried out satisfactorily before the candidate is allowed to sit the final exam. The students must expect to work more than the scheduled hours to complete the exercises to satisfaction. The grades are based on the written exam, project work, compulsory exercises and an oral examination. The assessment or evaluation may show the grade pass or fail, or marks from A (4), B (3), C (2), D (1) and E (Fail), where A is the top grade, the lowest pass grade is D

The JIU Academic Credit system follows the USA Generally Accepted Accrediting Practices
[GAAP]) i.e. 1 JIU Earned Credit = 1 USA Semester Credit =15 hours of learning/contact hours) = 2
